Russia equities close higher, MOEX rises 0.02%

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones by 132 to 103 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange

Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the MOEX Metals and Mining, MOEX Electric Utilities and MICEX Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index added 0.02 per cent.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO, which gained 2.50 per cent or 0.18 points to trade at 7.47 at the close. Surgutneftegas PJSC Pref added 2.47 per cent or 1.04 points to close at 43.10 and VK Company Ltd was up 1.75 per cent or 4.70 points to 272.70 in late trade.

Biggest losers included TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin, which dropped 1.50 per cent or 9.00 points to trade at 590.00 in late trade. Aeroflot PJSC shed 1.33 per cent or 0.66 points to close at 48.80 and AK ALROSA PJSC down 1.07 per cent or 0.35 points to 32.35.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 4.60 per cent to 20.54.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.27 per cent or 12.95 to $4,810.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.08 per cent or 1.90 to hit $93.19 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract gained 0.17 per cent or 0.17 to trade at $98.26 a barrel.

EUR/RUB was unchanged 0.00 per cent to 89.96, while USD/RUB unchanged 0.00 per cent to 76.36.
