Russian equities higher at close

The MOEX Russia Index added 0.91 per cent

Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the MOEX Metals and Mining, MOEX Oil and Gas and MICEX Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index added 0.91 per cent.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Magnitogorskiy Metallurgicheskiy Kombinat PAO, which gained 5.31 per cent or 1.39 points to trade at 27.59 at the close. AK ALROSA PJSC advanced 2.63 per cent or 0.87 points to close at 34.01 and MMC NORILSK NICKEL PJSC was up 2.54 per cent or 3.40 points to 137.30 in late trade.

Biggest losers included VK Company Ltd, which edged down 1.20 per cent or 3.25 points to trade at 267.15 in late trade. Magnit PJSC dropped 1.07 per cent or 31.50 points to close at 2,914.50 and Federal Hydro Generating Company RusHydro PJSC rose 0.88 per cent or 0.00 points to 0.44.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 153 to 86 and 11 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 28.02 per cent to 26.50.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07 per cent or 3.50 to $4,676.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May edged up 0.96 per cent or 1.07 to hit $112.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract dropped 0.16 per cent or 0.18 to trade at $109.51 a barrel.
