U.S. equities mixed at close, Dow down 0.05%

U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Technology sectors led shares down.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 0.05 per cent, while the S&P 500 index added 0.17 per cent, and the NASDAQ Composite index advanced 0.19 per cent.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Intel Corporation, which gained 1.95 per cent or 0.92 points to trade at 48.00 at the close. Amgen Inc advanced 1.73 per cent or 4.83 points to close at 284.16 and Merck & Company Inc was up 1.23 per cent or 1.31 points to 107.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nike Inc, which shed 11.83 per cent or 14.49 points to trade at 108.04 in late trade. Walt Disney Company lost 1.09 per cent or 1.00 points to close at 91.02 and Boeing Co lost 0.60 per cent or 1.58 points to 260.44.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were ANSYS Inc which gained 18.08 per cent to 357.98, Moderna Inc which was up 4.09 per cent to settle at 94.89 and Albemarle Corp which added 3.20 per cent to end at 150.10.
The worst performers were Nike Inc which was 11.83 per cent to 108.04 lower in late trade, Synopsys Inc which shed 6.34 per cent to settle at 524.46 and VF Corporation which was down 3.23 per cent to 18.59 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Nextplay Technologies Inc which gained 201.66 per cent to 2.73, Jin Medical International Ltd which was up 97.23 per cent to 139.01 and Prospector Capital Corp which advanced 76.79 per cent to end at 4.19.
The worst performers were Allovir Inc which was down 67.15 per cent to 0.77 in late trade, Jayud Global Logistics Ltd which shed 53.96 per cent to 1.28 and Chavant Capital Acquisition Corp which was down 51.03 per cent to 5.22 at the close.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was unchanged 0.00 per cent to 13.03.
